(KNZA)--Plans are being made for the annual Maple Leaf Festival and Heritage Days celebration in Hiawatha on Saturday, September 19th.
Hiawatha Chamber Administrator Eric Thompson says traditionally the festival has been held in early October, but was moved up this year for the convenience of vendors and citizens.
Thompson said the festival is being held the same weekend as the U.S. Highway 36 Treasure Hunt, which should bring more traffic into town and business to the Maple Leaf vendors.
Vendors will be set up around the Courthouse Square in downtown Hiawatha from 9 to 3 selling a variety of goods and services. In addition, there will be plenty of activities for children—including face painting, an inflatable carnival and more.
The Brown County Historical Society will host its Heritage Day celebration at the Ag Museum on East Iowa Street in conjunction with the Maple Leaf Festival. Shuttle rides will be provided from the Memorial Auditorium to the Ag Museum every half hour starting at 10:00 in the morning.
The Heritage Day festivities will include demonstrations, wagon rides down Windmill lane, displays and a host of other activities.
