(KMZA)--The woman found dead on a Pottawatomie County road has been identified.
Pottawatomie County Sheriff Greg Riat says the 45-year-old victim is Shannon Chebultz, whose last known address was in Blaine, Kansas.
Sheriff's Deputies and EMS responded to a 911 call around 4:00 Sunday afternoon regarding a woman lying on a road, northwest of Wamego. It was there Chebultz was found bleeding from the head, lying near a pick-up truck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe she had been riding in a 2007 Chevy pick-up, driven by a man, sometime prior to her suffering the deadly injuries.
Riat says the investigation is ongoing, with his office and the Kansas Highway Patrol continuing the probe.
