(KLZA)-- 23-year-old Ethan M. Bentley of Stella was sentenced to a period of 20-60 months in prison by Richardson County District Judge Daniel E. Bryan Jr. on a felony charge of criminal mischief.
As part of a plea bargain two charges against Bentley were dismissed.
Bentley was arrested in January for intentionally or maliciously damaging the Grace Bible Fellowship Church east of Stella. The damage to windows, doors, a lamp, walls, carpet and a guitar was estimated at more than $20,000.
A party contacted the Richardson County Sheriff’s Office notifying them that Bentley was vandalizing the church, was armed and allegedly looking to kill a law enforcement officer. Sheriff Don Pounds and Deputy Clinton Stonebarger responded to the call and discovered Bentley leaving the church property on foot. When officers ordered Bentley who had on blood-stained clothes to lie down, he started to, but got up and came at the Deputy, refusing to obey commands. When Bentley continued toward Deputy Stonebarger in an aggressive manner, Stonebarger used his taser to subdue him and place him under arrest.
