HCH CEO John Moore

(KNZA)-- Hiawatha Community Hospital CEO John Moore has announced his plans to retire next year.

Hospital Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Eric McPeak says he received a letter from Moore of his intention to retire, effective July 1st, 2016.

“ I have contemplated retiring for some time and always felt I would know the right time, " Moore said. "There never seems to be a right or wrong time as there is always a project or issue that needs addressed.  I plan on spending more time with family and travel some while I can still read the departure board and hear the boarding call.”

Moore has worked at the hospital since 1989 and has been the CEO since 1996.

McPeak says the Board is in the process of beginning the search for a new CEO.  He says Moore has offered to assist in securing his replacement, ensuring a smooth transition for the next administrator.

McPeak says ads will be posted on various executive websites, in the Kansas Hospital Association newsletter, on the hospital’s web page and through the local media. Inquires can be directed to Alison Kerl, Human Resource Director at the Hospital.
