(KNZA)--A northwest Missouri teenager accused in the murder of his grandparents appeared in a Buchanan County courtroom Friday morning.
16-year-old Joseph Johnson is charged with two counts of first degree murder in the July 4th deaths of James and Beverly Johnson. Their bodies were found in a home they shared with their grandson east of St. Joseph.
Investigators say the couple was shot to death and that James Johnson may have also been strangled.
KQ2-TV reports a judge ruled that Johnson will remain behind bars on a $250,000 bond.
Johnson's case was moved out of juvenile court on Wednesday after a judge ruled he could face charges as an adult.
