(KNZA)--The alleged burglary of an abandoned Jackson County house leads to the arrest of two Lawrence residents.
Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says 29-year-old Wake Mitchell and 30-year-old Charlotte Pemberton were both taken into custody Tuesday afternoon.
They were located after the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible burglary in the 17000 block of 190th Road, just southwest of Denison, around 4:00 Tuesday afternoon.
A neighbor had confronted the two suspects, causing them to drop items allegedly taken from the house. They then allegedly fled the scene in a van that was located, and stopped, just north of the Shawnee County line, by deputies and detectives. The pair was taken into custody at that location, near 102nd Road and U.S. Highway 75, in Jackson County.
Mitchell was booked into the Jackson County Jail on charges of burglary and attempted theft, while Pemberton was booked for conspiracy to commit burglary.
They are each held on bond of $25,000.
