(KNZA)--A Leavenworth man is identified as the driver of a mini-van that rear-ended a motorcycle, leaving the rider injured in Topeka.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports it happened Monday afternoon at the intersection of Topeka Boulevard and Southwest 8th Street.
It was there, the Patrol says, that 66-year-old Norman Elmer ran into the Harley-Davidson, which was stopped with northbound traffic at the Southwest 8th Street stop light. That caused the motorcycle to collide with an SUV in front of it, with the impact causing the motorcyclist, identified as 45-year-old James Cowan, of Topeka, to be ejected and thrown underneath the mini-van.
He was transported for hospitalized treatment at Stormont Vail.
Elmer was not hurt, nor was the driver of the SUV, which WIBW identifies as a Topeka Police Department vehicle driven by an officer.
The Patrol says the wreck happened around 3:20 Monday afternoon.
