Falls City Library and Arts Center

(KLZA)-- Area residents have a unique opportunity Friday, August 7th, to hear an amazing speaker and view a tremendous art show, all in one night. The speaker is Geraldine Craig, dean of the graduate school at Kansas State University, and a Professor of Art there. The show, titled “Cloth as Community; Hmong Textiles in America,” currently hangs in the Stalder Gallery of the Falls City Library and Arts Center. It features 28 textile pieces created by members of the Hmong community, and is part of a touring exhibition owned by the mid-American Art Alliance.

On August 7th, the Falls City Library and Arts Center will open at 6 p.m., and a light reception will be held in the front lobby. Guests will then have time to view the art show before the 7 p.m. gallery talk.

Craig is an internationally-recognized expert in Hmong textiles and culture. She has traveled throughout the U.S. and Mexico to talk about both subjects. She has been published in numerous periodicals, and has served as a guest artist, critic and juror across the United States.

Professor Craig is one of the top experts in the world on this subject.
