Schedule Change for National Night Out

 (KNZA)--On Tuesday, (August 4th) neighborhoods throughout Hiawatha are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “32nd Annual National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event. 

For the 21st year, the Hiawatha Police Department will sponsor the event.  Agencies will set up displays in the Schuneman Addition at the Fisher Center on East Iowa Street from 6:00 – 8:00 that evening.  They include the Brown County Sheriff’s Department, Squad 48, Town and Country Ambulance, and Hiawatha Fire Department.  Hot dogs, chips and soda will be provide free of charge.  From 7 to 9 that evening  a pool party will be held at the Hiawatha Aquatic Park at no charge.    The pool party has been moved up from the previously announced time due to a scheduling issue.

The National Night Out program is designed to help build neighborhood unity and strengthen police-community partnerships

 National Night Out will involve over 11,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world.
