ROCK PORT, Mo. - Crossover work will close one lane each direction on Interstate 29 in Atchison County next week. Beginning Monday, July 20, contractors working with the Missouri Department of Transportation will begin building crossovers just south of Exit 107, south of Rock Port. During the work, both the northbound and southbound passing lanes will be closed. Motorists may experience delays.
The crossovers are being installed ahead of a bridge project scheduled for the twin bridges over Rock Creek. Traffic will be moved head to head in one direction while the bridge deck is replaced in the opposite direction. Head-to-head traffic could begin as early as the middle of August.
Motorists should be alert and follow all construction signs and message boards. All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.
