(KAIR)--Two arrests were made in Atchison Saturday night, with one involving an alleged threat with a hatchet, and the other involving the alleged endangerment of children.
In the first case, Police Chief Mike Wilson says police were called to a residence located in the 1900 block of Harper Drive for a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, police “determined that there had been a disturbance between a 37-year-old man and 28-year-old Nicholas Mullins; and it was determined that a hatchet had been involved and that Mullins had a hatchet during the disturbance, and there had apparently been some threats made. He was taken into custody at the scene.
Wilson adds that Mullins also allegedly attempted to strike the victim with a vehicle before police arrived.
Mullins was booked into the Atchison County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault.
In the second case, Wilson says officers responded to a residence located in the 1500 block of Applegate Drive to investigate a situation that involved a 3-year-old child and a 7-year-old child that were allegedly left alone by their mother, 25-year-old Atchison resident Jina Woehler. He says that “when she returned, the information that we developed, when she returned, she was intoxicated, according to some witnesses, was going to try to leave with the children, and then the police were called.”
Woehler was arrested and booked into the Atchison County Jail on a charge of endangering a child. The two children were placed in the care of another family member.
