Pawnee County Brush Issues to Be Reviewed

(KLZA)-- Pawnee County Highway Superintendent Chris Rauner will be doing a follow-up on roadside brush issues and sending letters to land owners where he finds problems. Tuesday Rauner, Road Department Administrative Assistant Heather Duryea ( dur-ee-ay) and County Attorney Jennifer Stehlik Ladman met with the Pawnee County Commissioners regarding roadside brush. 

Rauner also discussed the 2015-16 Road Department budget. He will be advertising for two motor graders. 

Assessor Jon Bailey, Stehlik-Ladman, Pawnee County Clerk Candi Nicholas, Rauner and Sheriff Jayme Reed met Commissioners to work on updating the Pawnee County Handbook. 

Emergency Manager Clint Strayhorn met with the Board regarding mitigation.  Commissioners adopted a resolution adopting the Nemaha Natural Resources District Multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan in its entirety and are requesting approval of the plan at the federal level. 

In other business Commissioners approved signing a letter of support for Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging. Julie Hippen, Director and Blue Rivers fiscal officer Carla Moretnsen provided the annual report and budget request of $765 to the Board. 

Pawnee County Treasurer Cheryl Dahlgren discussed 9-1-1 surcharges. She will be contacting the Public Service Commission about Timer Warner 9-1-1 surcharges and the County not receiving all money collected.  Dahlgren also reported Pawnee County had received more insurance taxes than the County was entitled to from the distribution of insurance tax fund. $792 will be refunded.  

No one from the public addressed Commissioners during a public hearing for a Class D liquor license application for Den’s Country Meats in Table Rock.  The Board voted 2-0 to give favorable comment to the application with Commissioner Dennis Schaardt, who owns Den’s County Meat abstaining.
