Area Charities To Receive Tribal Funds
07/07/2015

(KNZA)--Nearly $71,000 is earmarked for area charities, with a ceremony set for later this month where the funds will be presented.

The money comes courtesy of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, with the recipients determined by the Charitable Contributions Committee, comprised of six tribal members. They work in conjunction with the Tribal Council to select 21 organizations to receive the quarterly distribution.

The determination is based in part on groups involved in education, health and community services, environmental protection and preservation, and religious organizations that have an impact on the spiritual wellness and quality of life for all.

The largest donations for this quarter are designated for several Topeka organizations, but others in the immediate area, such as Mayetta Pioneer Days, will also receive funds.

The awards ceremony is set for Thursday morning, July 9th, at 11:00 at the Prairie Band Casino and Resort.
