(KAIR)--Fort Leavenworth is planning an event to celebrate the Independence Day holiday, and everyone is invited to attend.
The annual party will be held Saturday afternoon at Merritt Lake, starting at 4:00. A live band will play at 5:30, followed by a ceremony recognizing Vietnam Veterans. A Salute to the Union Ceremony will then kick off at 8:30. The event's grand finale will be a traditional fireworks display, starting about a half hour after sunset.
Food, drinks, inflatable bounce houses, a rock wall, and horseback rides will also be available.
Visitors to Fort Leavenworth without approved credential cards should enter the main gate at Grant and Metropolitan Avenues and use the far right lane. Guests are also encouraged to to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.
