Road Repairs Planned in Doniphan Co.
06/26/2015

(KNZA)--Steps are being taken to repair roads in Doniphan County damaged by recent heavy rains.

Road Superintendent Bob Edie discussed with County Commissioners this week two priority projects that he says need to be completed prior to the start of the school year and fall harvest.

He said the first is the 16-block of Ottumwa Road, north of U.S. 36 Highway, where there is an apparent 30-foot hole in one spot.   Edie said the second priority project involves a tube replacement on 160th Road, northwest of Denton.

Commissioners voted to purchase about 7,000 tons of rip rap from Whetrock Quarries for $10 a ton and $3 per ton for hauling in order to complete the Ottumwa Road project.

In a related matter, the Commission also approved the purchase of about 31 loads of hot patch material in order to repair hard surfaced roadways at a cost of $900 per load.
