Seneca Council Approves Funding Request
06/19/2015

(KMZA)--The Seneca City Council has agreed to continue to provide funding for the Northeast Kansas Enterprise Facilitation program.

Representatives of the non-profit organization met with the Council Wednesday evening to present their annual report and funding request for 2016.

The program offers free and confidential business coaching in a five-county area—including Nemaha County.  A group of more than 60 volunteers from the five counties makes a board that assist rural entrepreneurs in creating or maintaining their small business ventures.

Since beginning in June 2003, the program has served more than one-thousand clients—180 of those from Nemaha County.

The Council was asked to provide $5,000 in funding for 2016-- a $590 increase over this year.   A loss of state funding was cited as the reason for the funding increase request.

The Council voted to provide $5,000 for each of the next three years.
