Valuation Protest Dates Set by Pawnee County Board

(KLZA)-- The Pawnee County Commissioners reconvened as a Board of Equalization during their meeting this week and Assessor Jon Bailey presented a report of all properties in Pawnee County that had changed due to being overvalued or undervalued. The Board set the valuation protest hearings for July 7th beginning at 1 p-m  and July 9th beginning at 9 a-m.  If an additional time is needed it will be held July 21st at 1 p-m. 

Commissioners discussed removing residency requirements for Pawnee County employees. A motion was passed to remove residency requirements to be eligible for hire or maintaining employment with Pawnee County.  Elected Pawnee County officials may use their own discretion and may adopt residency requirements for their respective offices.  

Commissioners approved the Four County Diversion grant plan presented by Laura Osborne with the Four County Juvenile Service Program. 

The Board also decided to stay with the same deductible with the rates being lowered for the county insurance through NIRMA.  Suzanne Borcher was appointed as Pawnee County representative along with Commissioner Dennis Schaardt on the Pawnee Regional Revolving Loan Fund with SENDD.  

Bids were opened for two, 2015 bridge replacement projects. Midwest Underground submitted the apparent low bid for the two projects combined at $575,439.  Three other bids were received.  The bid was referred to Mainelli and Wagner engineer for review prior to the bid being awarded. 

Commissioners also set up interviews for the Building and Grounds position for 3 p-m on June 15th.
