(KLZA)-- Now that there has been a let up in the rain, the damage assessment from flooding in Richardson County is underway. Richardson County Emergency Management Director Brian Dixon says the heavy rains caused significant amounts of damage to county roads.
Water is still over Pony Creek Road and the Preston Road as well as Highway 159 north or Preston. Once the water recedes, the roads will be checked for damage and hopefully reopened. Significant rainfall in the last month and the heavy rains in the past two days have lead to erosion problems around bridges and culverts. Dixon says the County will be assessing damage to see how much it will cost to repair the damage and if a disaster declaration will be necessary.
Projections are for the river levels to drop Friday.
Everyone is reminded to obey warning signs and remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown.
