(KLZA)-- The Falls City, City Council Monday night voted unanimously to approve a resolution supporting the Tri State Labor Committee’s efforts to urge Southeast Community College to provide outreach programs in Falls City.
The Committee is part of EDGE. Charlie Radatz addressed the Council Monday evening. EDGE is encouraging the public to support a letter writing campaign urging SCC to create Outreach Programs to help improve workforce training for residents of Falls City and Southeast Nebraska closer to home.
In other action the Council also unanimously approved a request from Hope Schawang for $500 in matching funds for a Recycling Education Grant she is applying for. Schawang said if approved the grant monies would be used to help promote the importance of recycling, the dangers of trash burning and the necessity of disposing of toxic materials in the correct manner.
The Nebraska Academy of Sciences Grant is funded by the Nebraska Environmental Trust.
The Council also approved three curb cuts for the Falls City Public Schools on 26th Street between Harlan and Chase Streets. Approval was also given to the Chamber of Commerce annual requests for the August Cobblestone Festival.
