(MSC News)--An Oskaloosa man is now charged in connection with the Memorial Day murder of a Lawrence man.
The Lawrence Journal-World reports that 33-year-old Joshua Lee Back was arrested Wednesday in Leavenworth County following a vehicle pursuit that led from Jefferson County to the community of Basehor.
Back was charged Thursday in Douglas County with second-degree murder and felony theft in relation to the stabbing death of 45-year-old Tracy Dean Lautenschlager.
6NewsLawrence reports Lautenschlager was found by Lawrence police bleeding outside a McDonald’s restaurant on 6th Street. He later died after being transported for hospital treatment.
The Associated Press reports that court documents indicate Back stole a vehicle from a woman who lived at the residence where investigators believe the stabbing occurred.
Back remains in the Douglas County Jail on bond of $750,000.
His next court appearance is set for June 24th.
