Richardson Co Board Approves Bridge Inspection Contract

(KLZA)-- Richardson County Commissioners have approved an agreement with the Nebraska Department of Roads for bridge inspections and load re-ratings. The cost to the county for the inspections will be approximately $16,000.  

The Quarterly Safety Committee meeting was held. Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert reported radio reception for his department is still not acceptable.  Commissioner David Sickel reported that he has looked into getting the stairs at the entrances to the Courthouse in Falls City replaced.  Sheriff Don Pounds reported alarms on the exit doors in the Jail area need to be reviewed.  

Steve Simon with Miller-Monroe Insurance Agency presented the final draft of the County Safety Manual to the Committee. The manual was approved and formally adopted for Richardson County. 

Commissioners also approved advertising for sealed bids to be opened June 2 at 2 p-m for providing the Richardson County property, general liability and workers compensation insurance for July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016. 

Shawn Fouraker and Katlyn Kennedy with the Falls City Area Jaycees met with Commissioners requesting favorable comment for liquor license applications submitted to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission for special designated liquor licenses.  The events the applications are for include the June 12, Outlaw Tractor Pull;  June 13th mud volleyball tournament; July 31 and August 1 and August 2 for the tractor pull and demolition derby. All of the events are to be held at the Falls City Area Jaycees Arena on Highway 73, south of Falls City.
