(KLZA)-- Falls City Police have arrested a man on felony domestic violence charges.
45-year-old Matthew Oetjen, who lists his home as Pawnee City, was arrested on charges of strangulation, terroristic threats and third degree domestic assault early Tuesday morning.
Officers were called to the 1600 block of Abbott Street and made contact with Oetjen’s wife in the 1700 block of Abbott Street. She told officers that Oetjen had assaulted her and strangled her before she was able to run away to a neighbor’s home.
Oetjen was still in the house and officers arrested him. According to a witness at the scene the victim was transported by the Falls City Volunteer Ambulance Squad. Oetjen was unresponsive when officers finally entered the house and he was later transferred by ambulance and then jailed.
Oetjen appeared in Richardson County Court Wednesday and was released on a personal recognizance bond of $5,000.
Oetjen will be arraigned at a later date.
