(KNZA)--A Brown County house has been added to the Register of Historic Kansas Places.
During their quarterly meeting this month, the Kansas Historic Sites Board of Review voted to list the Long House located on a farmstead at 3633 Horned Owl Road in northern Brown County in the Historic Register.
The house was completed about 1910. It was the home of widow Hettie Long, her unmarried son Fred, and her son Howard and his family.
The house was nominated for its local significance in the area of architecture. The Board says the residence is an excellent example of the Craftsman and Prairie Styles exhibited on a foursquare—a common house form of the early 20th century found in rural and urban areas throughout the country.
The Register of Historic Kansas Places is the state’s official list of historically significant properties.
