(KNZA)--Plans have been finalized for the annual Memorial Day service in Hiawatha in remembrance of Brown County veterans who have died.
The service will be held Monday, May 25th at the Brown County Historical Society Museum Memorial Auditorium beginning at 10 in the morning and the public is invited to attend.
The annual service is planned and presented by the Brown County Veteran’s Honor Guard.
The speaker this year will be Colonel John Johnson, Chief of Staff with the 35th Division at Fort Leavenworth.
Also the Hiawatha American Legion will be installing flags on Saturday, May 23rd at 8 in the morning at the Hiawatha Cemetery and at the Mount Hope Cemetery at 9. The flags will be taken down starting at 4:30 Monday afternoon , May 25th at the Hiawatha Cemetery and at 5 p.m. at the Mount Hope Cemetery. All help is appreciated.
