Bond Denied In Saint Joseph Murder Case
05/01/2015

Richard James Berry

(MSC News)--Bond is denied for the trio accused in the stabbing death of a Saint Joseph Missouri man whose body was dumped in a river.

KQ2-TV reports that 43-year-old Elwood, Kansas resident Kelli Hoard, as well as 24-year-old Sean Liechti and 22-year-old Primalton Peterson III, both of Saint Joseph, appeared in a Buchanan County courtroom Friday morning where the judge denied bond.

All three are charged with second-degree murder related to the death of 28-year-old Richard Berry, but Hoard and Liechti are also charged with assault.

It's alleged the three planned to rob and assault Berry Saturday after they drove him to near the Third Fork Platte River.

Upon arrival at the river bridge, it's alleged that Liechti and Peterson pushed the victim to the ground and held him down while Hoard stabbed him with a knife. Allegedly handed a second knife by Peterson, Hoard continued with the stabbing, until Liechti and Peterson picked up Berry and threw him over the bridge and into the river below.

His body was found by a passerby around Midnight Saturday.

The three were arrested following a search of an Elwood, Kansas residence where authorities say evidence related to the murder was found.

They are set for a preliminary hearing later this month.
