Southeast Nebraska Unemployment Figures Remain Strong

(KLZA)-- Nebraska continues to have the lowest unemployment rate in the country.  In March the 2.6 percent rate was eight-tenths of a point better than in March of 2014.

Four of the six counties in extreme Southeast Nebraska had their unemployment rates dip in March. The rates were up a tenth of a percentage point for the month in both Pawnee and Nemaha counties. 

In Richardson County the March jobless rate was 3.1 percent. Down three-tenths.  Despite the minimal increase, Pawnee County shares the honor of having the best unemployment rate in the area at 2.6 percent with Johnson County.  Other area unemployment rates were 3.5 percent in Nemaha County, Nebraska, 3.5 percent in Gage County and 3.4 percent in Otoe County.  

All of those rates were lower than in March, 2014. 

North Dakota has the second best unemployment rate in the country at 3.1 percent. Utah is third at 3.4, South Dakota is fourth at 3.5 percent and Minnesota is fifth at 3.7 percent.  Iowa has the 10th best unemployment rate at 4 percent, Kansas is tied for 14th with Colorado and Texas at 4.2 percent and Missouri, Arkansas and Michigan are tied for 28th at 5.6 percent.
