(KNZA)--The Doniphan West Primary School in Highland will close effective June 30th.
The USD 111 Board of Education during a special meeting Monday evening voted unanimously to close the school.
The board also voted to move the pre-school from the current primary school to the elementary school near Denton, beginning next school year.
The board held a hearing in early March to receive patron input on the proposal to close the primary school due to state cuts to public education.
The board at a special meeting late last month voted to move the 7th and 8th grades from the middle school near Denton to the high school building in Highland, and to move the kindergarten from the primary school to the elementary school near Denton, beginning next school year.
