Falls City Council Approves Downtown Grant Application Again

(KLZA)-- The Falls City Council conducted a public hearing on the 2014 Community Development Block Grant, Downtown Revitalization Phase II Grant Application Monday night.  This was the second public hearing.  A second hearing was held because the first hearing did not meet the public advertising requirements.

Following the hearing, drawing no public comment, Council members voted 7-0 with Councilman Mike Dougherty absent to authorize Mayor Jerry Oliver to sign the grant application for a second $350,000 grant for the project. 

The Council also approved the appointment of Marc Merz to the 

Falls City Airport Authority. Merz will fill the position left vacant when Cliff Barnhill moved. 

Approved on final reading was an ordinance to vacate Willow Lane Between 19th and 21st Streets in Falls City.

City Administrator Gary Jorn also reminded those seeking special designated liquor licenses at Prichard Auditorium of the importance to follow the rules. Jorn noted that if any problems arise, the vendor would not be granted any further special licenses. 

The Council did approved a request to rent the Auditorium June 20th for a wedding reception and to allow alcohol to be serve.  Favorable comment was also given to the special designated liquor license request for the reception for Richard Lemerond.  Both votes were approved 5-2 with Council members Judy Murphy and John Vaughn Casting nay votes.
