Pawnee City Council Discusses Nuisance Vehicles
04/22/2015

(KLZA)-- The Pawnee City, City Council discussed nuisances with Pawnee County Sheriff Jayme Reed during the April Council meeting.  Abandoned, unlicensed vehicles are becoming an issue in the city limits of Pawnee City and some letters are going to be sent to property owners where these vehicles are located.

The Council approved the Pawnee County Fair Parade route including running traffic both ways on a one-way street in front of the school. A request to close off streets around the City Square for the annual “Last Fling til Spring” event in September was also approved.

The appointment of Terry Borcher to the position of Housing Authority Commissioner was approved. The Council also approved the expenditure of $1670 for HJP Pest Control to do mosquito spraying again this summer.

City Clerk Tammy Stephens also reported some of the rates for swimming pool use are going to be increased this summer. The pass increases will go up $5 with the Family Season Advance Pass selling for $70; Family Season pass will be $75, the Single Season Pass will be $55. The daily fee for students will remain $3, adult daily admittance will be raised one dollar to a total of $5. If you attend a midnight swim event at the Pawnee City Pool the cost to enter will go from $3 to $5 per person and everyone entering will pay whether they have a season pass or not.

Part of the reason for the cost increase is to help cover the added expense to the City for Life Guards due to the increase in the minimum wage.
