(KAIR)--The Atchison Area Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for it's annual citywide spring clean up event, set to take place on Saturday, May 2nd from 8:00am-noon.
The Atchison Beautification Committee has been working with the Chamber to organize the cleanup. Committee Chair Rita Hartman says most items, will be accepted at a central drop off location, located at 1100 Main Street.. However, paint will only be accepted at the county transfer station. Hartman adds that glass should be separate from single stream recycle items such as paper, hard plastic, aluminum, and cardboard. Wood or tree branches will also be accepted, though any branches should be placed in bundles no bigger than four feet.
A tire truck will also be available at the central drop off location. Hartman says that tires will be limited to just eight per load until 10:30am, but after that, you can bring as many as you want.
Pick up service is also available. Hartman says volunteers will even collect your old appliances. However, anything with freon in it, must have had it removed, and a certificate from a certified technician must be provided.
To schedule a pick-up or to volunteer, please call the Atchison Area Chamber of Commerce at 913-367-2427.
