HTRS School Board Receives Updates on Building
04/21/2015

(KLZA)-- You will notice lots of progress at the Humboldt Site of the HTRS School District now that the pre-fab walls are being set in place.  Superintendent Clint Kimbrough provided an update on the project during the recent School Board meeting.

Most of the east and west walls are in place with a floor in place on the second floor.  The shell of the new west entrance is up.

Even though a new addition is going up at the school in Humboldt,  there is still the matter of upkeep on the parts of the building that date back to the 1930’s. Tuck pointing, boilers, doors and such are all things the HTRS School Board has to keep up to date.  Kimbrough said currently there is a water leak that will require some tuck pointing.  In addition there are boiler issues, H-VAC needs and re-keying doors that need attention.

Superintendent Kimbrough said while there is not a good time to spend money on repairs and upkeep, it has to be done.  Change orders on the new addition have added nearly $100,000 to the price tag.

School officials are hoping to be able to use the new west side entrance to the building for the start of school in August with the rest of the addition which includes classrooms and a fitness center / weight room to be finished up in November or December.
