(KLZA)-- The Richardson County Commissioners reviewed a bid from AHRS Construction for the law enforcement center / jail project with County Attorney Doug Merz when they met this week. Merz said he found no problems with the contract. Commissioners are expected to take action to approve the contract during their April 14th meeting.
In related business the Board approved a contract for the removal of asbestos from the Armory prior to construction. Two bids were received from Omaha companies. The bid was awarded to McGill Asbestos Abatement in the amount of $7,840.
Commissioners also approved the purchase of builder’s risk insurance from Miller Monroe. The cost for the coverage is $9,349, with an estimated time of construction at 15 months.
Sheriff Don Pounds and Emergency Management Director Brian Dixon met with Commissioners reviewing the disposal of items being stored within the Armory and the outbuilding, which need to be removed before construction begins. Commissioners requested all items be removed by April 21. Plans are being made to conduct an auction of county surplus property in the next several weeks.
The quarterly jail inspection was also conducted by the Board with Sheriff Pounds. Commissioners found the facility to be in good order.
