(KAIR)--The rubberized eight lane track around the football field at Atchison County Community Junior/Senior High School was damaged Monday morning after an unidentified vehicle drove onto it.
USD 377 Superintendent Steve Wiseman says that an unknown person drove onto the track and did a burnout, causing the damage.
Wiseman adds that school officials will work to quickly fix the damage. He says “We are going to have to do a little bit of patchwork on it in order to get it ready for next Tuesday's track meet, but our assessment is that we have some material that we can use to put on it that is going to take care of the problem.”
Wiseman says the case has been turned over to the Atchison County Sheriff's Office for further investigation.
