(KNZA)--A former Horton Mayor is being remembered.
LeRoy Paden, who was 75-years-old when he died Monday, served three terms as Mayor of the Brown County community during the 1980's and 90's.
Along with his civic leadership, friends and family recall Paden's love of morel mushroom hunting, which not only led him across North America in his pursuits, but to his founding of the National Morel Mushroom Hunters Association.
In tribute to Paden's passion, his family will cook morels and provide lunch at the Horton Blue Building immediately following Monday morning's 10:00 Mass of Christian Burial at Horton's Saint Leo's Church. The Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha is handling the arrangements.
Along with his wife of 55-years, Judy, Paden's other survivors include a son, Rodney, and two daughters, Rhonda McClain and Helen Jo Paden.
