(KAIR)--The Atchison County Commission has approved a resolution declaring a stretch of Morton Road between U.S. 59 Highway and 238th Road, approximately 2 miles east of Cummings as a county major road.
Commission Chair Jeff Schuele says the designation was made to improve safety conditions on the triangular shaped road and “discussing with KDOT, there was a safer route as the exit off 59 Highway onto 238th Road comes after, right up a hill, so your obstruction of view is pretty high. We are moving the entrance onto 238th Road via Mout Pleasant Township Road.”
Schuele says landowners adjacent to the road have been contacted, and the county has had no problem acquiring rights to any land that would be effected by the changes.
