(KAIR)--A candidate forum is planned for Monday evening in Atchison.
The event, sponsored by the Atchison Area Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Development Council, will feature candidates for both the Atchison City Commission and the USD 409 school board.
The forum will start with a short speech from each City Commission candidate, followed by a question and answer session.
Chamber President Jacque Pregont says the question format is well structured. The order in which candidates will answer a question will be rotated, so that each will have a chance to answer first, as well as last.
Pregont says the Chamber's “position is to not really to take a position on anything, but just to make sure that voters are informed voters. So we want people to get out and vote, and we want them to know why they are voting for who they are voting for.”
The forum is scheduled to start at 7:00 in Atchison's City Hall, and will be moderated by Benedictine College Communications and Marketing Director Steve Johnson.
