(KNZA)--Burn bans are no longer in place in the immediate area.
That comes as Doniphan County allows theirs to be lifted.
The decision to do so was announced Monday, but extreme caution is urged for anyone conducting open burning.
Brown County's burn ban was lifted last Thursday. However, the issue was revisted during Monday's meeting of the Brown County Commission. Chairman Warren Ploeger was granted the authority to re-implement the burn ban this coming Wednesday if rainfall is not received in the Brown County area.
Commissioners also continue to pursue the implementation of penalties for those who fail to follow burn ban regulations. That is not yet finalized, with Ploeger to meet with local fire chiefs to discuss the resolution which would put the penalties on the books.
Once their input is received, the Commission will revisit the issue.
Atchison County's burn ban also remains lifted at the current time.
