(KMZA)--Informational meetings are planned this week on the half-cent sales tax proposal Nemaha County voters will face during the April 7th general election to fund health care services in the county.
The meetings will take place Wednesday at the Sabetha City Hall at 10 in the morning and at the Seneca Free Library meeting room at 6:30 in the evening.
Proceeds from the tax would be divided between the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca and Sabetha Community Hospital. If approved, the tax would take effect July 1st and be effective for 10 years.
Hospital officials says the sales tax would help address revenue shortfalls tied to coming changes in federal health care funding, regulatory mandates and increasing bad debt from uninsured and underinsured customers.
