(KAIR)--The 23-year-old Atchison man, accused of leading authorities on a multi-county pursuit last week, is now facing burglary charges in the city of Atchison.
Police Chief Mike Wilson says Ryan Brownfield was arrested Saturday, while already in custody at the Atchison County Jail, in connection with the vehicle burglaries that happened Thursday. “The Police Department did investigate a number of vehicle burglaries that occurred on Thursday,” Wilson tells MSC News. “These cases included vehicles in the 900 block of Commercial, the 500 block of South 9th, and the 100 block of South 12th.”
The pursuit, which began in Atchison and traveled into Jefferson and Jackson Counties, started around 5:00 Thursday evening, with Wilson saying investigators believe the burglaries were committed earlier in the day.
According to Atchison County Sheriff Jack Laurie, it was an investigation into county residential burglaries, and the sighting of a vehicle matching the description of the one driven by Brownfield, that led to the pursuit in the first place.
Brownfield is facing pursuit related charges in all three counties.
Following his Thursday evening arrest, he was booked into the Atchison County Jail where bond was set at $20,000.
