(KMZA)--A Seneca woman charged in connection with the theft of more than $100,000 from a Bern business over a 12 ½ year period has entered into a plea agreement.
Elizabeth Schraad pleaded guilty Thursday in Nemaha County District Court to a charge of felony theft by deception. In exchange for the plea, a charge of making false information was dismissed.
Sentencing was set for June 4th.
Schraad and her son John, of Sabetha, were arrested in July 2013 following an investigation by the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Department into the theft from Lortscher Agri Service where the two were formerly employed.
Authorities say the crimes allegedly occurred between January 1st, 2001 and July 2013.
John Schraad, who was accused of taking more than $1,000, was charged with the felony theft. He’s set to enter into a diversion agreement on April 7th. County Attorney Brad Lippert says if Schraad meets all the requirements of the agreement—which will include that he pay restitution--the case will be dismissed against him.
