Doniphan Co to Seek Economic Development Coordinator
03/05/2015

(KNZA)-- Doniphan County will again seek a full-time economic development coordinator.

The County Commission agreed this week  to advertise for the position after meeting with the Doniphan County Chamber of Commerce last Friday.

The Commission had initially agreed last month to seek a part-time person to fill the position.

Some time ago, the county was served by a full-time economic development director.  However, early in 2013 it was proposed by Commissioner Terry Horner that the board consider the employment of a combined county administrator and economic development director.  Several resumes were submitted, but neither role was filled last year.

In other business, Sheriff Chad Clary informed the Commission of the resignation of Deputy Bruce Case, effective March 3rd, and hiring of Deputy Brian Hontz, along with a K-9 unit.

Hontz began work Monday.  He had previously worked for the sheriff’s department before joining the Elwood Police Department.

The Doniphan County Sheriff’s Department purchased Hontz’s dog from the city of Elwood for a fee of 15-hundred dollars, with the expense paid from the sheriff’s vehicle inspection.

Clary says with the addition of Hontz’ and his K-9, the dog obtained for Deputy Hirtler would be retired.
