(KLZA)-- Richardson County Commissioners are requesting proposals for financing the proposed jail facility at the former National Guard Armory on the west edge of Falls City.
The Board will open proposals on the financing at 10:30 a-m on Tuesday, March 17th.
A County is allowed to bond for brick and mortar projects such as a jail without a public vote. The County could levy up to 5.2-cents per $100 of assessed valuation, outside of the state mandated levy limit of 50-cents per $100 of assessed valuation. The 2014-15 Richardson County tax levy is 33.63-cents.
In other business, the Board approved having the Nebraska State Auditor do the County Audit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2015. The County will be charged by the hour for the audit. Commissioners said the State Auditor does an audit of all County business.
