Pawnee City Council Receives Annual Audit
02/25/2015

(KLZA)-- Pawnee City Council members received the 2013-14 Fiscal Year audit from Julie Bauman CPA when them met Monday evening.  Bauman gave the City the best opinion allowed and said the City is financially stable.

Councilman Charlie Hatfield reported on meetings he had attended to learn more about funding for street projects.  He said it is too late to apply for grants for this year and noted that grant monies can be difficult to acquire for street projects. A number of ordinances presented by the Nebraska League of Municipalities were approved as presented.  However an ordinance concerning abandoned automobiles was not included, Council members felt Pawnee City’s ordinance on nuisance vehicles already took care of the situation.

A letter City Attorney Joe Stehlik sent to Pinnacle Trust Services regarding in excess of $55,000 the Helen Callam Charitable Trust had left for Pawnee City was discussed.  Stehlik is seeking clarification as to where exactly the money can be used.

Pawnee City Council members learned the asbestos has been removed from the Gaston nuisance property at 1128 G Street.  Once the utilities are dealt with the property will be cleared which includes razing the house.

Advertising for a swimming pool Manager, Assistant Manager and lifeguards for the upcoming summer season was also approved by the Council. Painting of the pool entrance and re-plumbing the showers with pex pipe was approved.  These items were included in the budget.
