(KLZA)-- The Southeast Nebraska No-Till conference is scheduled for Monday, February 23 at the 4-H Building at the Gage County Fairgrounds in Beatrice.
Registration begins at 9:30 a-m with the program starting at 10 a-m. The program is entitled Using No-till and Building Soil Health.
Speakers include Jay Fuhreer with the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service from Bismarck, North Dakota and Dan Forgey, manager of Cronin Farms in Gettysburg, South Dakota who will share tips and ideas on the importance of soil health and diversifying farming operations.
Other speakers include No-till producer Dan Gillespie on no-till corn and soybeans, cover crops and practical observations and Nebraska Extension Engineer Paul Jasa on seeding and management of cover crops.
A panel of area farmers including Ben Steffen of Humboldt, Tyler Burkey of Dorchester, Dave Endorf of Daykin and Russell Moss of Burr will also be part of the program which is sponsored by the University of Nebraska – Lincoln Extension, Nebraska Environmental Trust, NRCS and local sponsors. No pre-registration is required.
