Jackson Co Sheriff Attends Training Session
02/11/2015

(KNZA)--Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse just returned from the prestigious Missing Children Seminar for Chief Executives held just outside of the nation’s capital, at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children located in Alexandria, VA.

Morse was invited to attend the 2-day seminar, held on February 8-9, 2015 as a guest of the NCMEC, joining 48 other law enforcement executives. This was the 158th session of the CEO course and Morse is now one of nearly 6,000 who have completed this training.

The Missing Children Seminar for Chief Executives was designed to provide attendees like Morse a better understanding of the issue of missing and sexually exploited children, how to specifically deal with the situation of a child who has been reported missing when time is critical, and how to access a multitude of resources available to assist in these cases.

Sheriff Morse said “This program has been the best I have ever attended in regard to missing children, dealing with child abductions and exploited children investigations. To have been selected in itself, was an honor, but to be able to bring this knowledge home and put it into practice, is a plus for the citizens of Jackson County, Kansas.“

Created in 1997 and funded by the United States Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency (OJJDP), the CEO training discusses the needed steps in implementing best practices for call takers, responding officers, investigators, and command staff.

Once candidates are selected to attend, all travel and lodging expenses during training are covered by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children through a grant by OJJDP.
