(KLZA)-- Richardson County Commissioners this week met with Quinten Bowan and Justine Petsch with the Nebraska Farm Bureau. They were representing the Richardson County Farm Bureau and requested a designation from the Commissioners to become a Livestock Friendly County. The Board indicated they would pursue the designation.
Commissioners also gave Sheriff Don Pounds permission to hire Steve Smith as a part-time Deputy during their Tuesday meeting. Smith lives and works in Kansas. He served previously as a Richardson County Deputy Sheriff.
Gary Jones with Jones Air Conditioning met with the Board to review a bill submitted by his company for additional expenditures during the air conditioner replacement at the Courthouse.
Emergency Management Agency Director Brian Dixon met with the Commissioners to review the correspondence from Nebraska Emergency Management Agency regarding the Local Emergency Operations Plan, due for revision by May 31. Dixon indicated he would review the plan and make the necessary revisions to present to the Commissioners for approval.
Commissioners also approved right-of-way acquisition and easement documents for the culvert project in cooperation with Nemaha County, Nebraska on 720 Road between 641 and 642 Avenue.
Right-of-way acquisition and easement documents for a project on 711 Road approximately a mile west of Dawson was also approved.
