(KMZA)-- With Tuesday’s filing deadline, the field of candidates vying for open city and school board positions in Nemaha County has been set, and there will be a number of contested races for the April 7th general election.
In Sabetha, there will be a contested race for one of the three open city commission positions. Kenny Miller is challenging incumbent Rick Koch for Commissioner of Utilities
There will be contested races for two of the four open positions on the Prairie Hills USD 113 Board of Education. None of the incumbents filed for re-election.
Tammy Hinton and Jim Scoby are vying for position 1. Michael Bachelor and Kent Saylor are both seeking position 7, member at large.
There will also be contested races for two of the four open positions on the Nemaha Central USD 115 Board of Education.
Jamie Guerrero and Joe Reitz are vying for position 3, which is currently held by Roger Hermesh who didn’t seek re-election. Incumbent Owen Zinke is being challenged by Doug Metzger for position 7, member at large.
There will be a contested race for one of the four open positions on the Vermillion USD 380 Board.
Three candidates are seeking position three on the board. They include incumbent Lynda Cross, Shana Steinlage and Marcie Koch.
