(KNZA)--Unemployment was up in most area northeast Kansas counties in December compared to November.
According to figures released Friday by the Kansas Department of Labor, Doniphan County was the only area county to see a drop in its jobless rate, falling to 3.5 percent.
Jefferson County had the highest unemployment rate at 4.9 percent, while Nemaha County had the lowest at 2.4 percent.
Elsewhere, Atchison County’s unemployment rate in December stood at 4.7 percent; Brown, 3.7 percent; Jackson, 4.5 percent; Leavenworth, 4.7 percent; Marshall, 2.9 percent and Pottawatomie, 4.2 percent.
All the figures were down from December 2013, but in Jackson.
Statewide, the jobless rate held steady last month at 4.2 percent.
