(KAIR)--A power outage Wednesday afternoon affected nearly 700 customers in Atchison, including two schools.
According to a Westar Energy representative, power was lost at approximately 12:10.
USD 409 Superintendent Susan Myers says power was lost at Atchison High School and Atchison Elementary school. Some students were moved out of the darker classrooms, and there was some loss of phone and internet service, but classes were not otherwise disrupted.
Power was restored just before 1:45.
Westar reports that malfunctioning equipment was to blame for the outage.
