(KAIR)--An Atchison man, convicted of possession of methamphetamine, has been sentenced to fifteen months in prison.
26-year-old Jesse Smith was handed the sentence in Atchison County District Court Friday morning on the charge. After completion of his sentence, he will be placed on eighteen months of supervised probation.
Smith was arrested in mid October of last year, after officers with the Atchison Police Department were called to a residence located in the north central part of the city for a welfare check. Upon arrival, they were informed that Smith had just left the scene on foot. He was located moments later in the 900 block of M Street. When officers confronted Smith, they discovered what appeared to be methamphetamine in his possession.
